West End YMCA

in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati

A project of the 2004 ArtWorks Summer Program

  • Located in the hallway outside the multi-purpose room at the Carl H. Lindner YMCA, 1425B Linn St., Cincinnati, OH 45214 - West End
  • Unveiled at the Grand Opening of the YMCA, 2006
Apprentices worked with Lead Artist and West End resident Terence Hammonds to create a commemorative tile installation inspired by members of the West End community. Apprentices explored the West End neighborhood, met and photographed residents to include them in the project. Portraits of the residents were screen-printed onto tiles along with a unique design inspired by the West End's architecture. This mural was installed in the new West End Carl H. Lindner YMCA facility as a tribute to the community.
