Salway Park on the Mill Creek
Laughing Brook
A project of the 2004 ArtWorks Summer Program
- Located in Salway Park across from Spring Grove Cemetery on Spring Grove Ave - between Northside and Winton Hills
- Installation ongoing
For this project, Apprentices worked along side internationally acclaimed artist Jackie Brookner to create beautifully cast fish and hands made of porous concrete as part of a permanent outdoor sculpture for Salway Park. Once installed, water from the surrounding floodplain will filter through the porous concrete, becoming purified and encouraging plant growth on the sculptures. Apprentices also created custom pavers that have molded imagery inspired by the Mill Creek habitat. This project is the first environmental art project of its kind at ArtWorks.
