Join us on September 12, 2017 to celebrate both of ArtWorks’ 2017East Price Hill projects. Follow the Apprentices along Warsaw Avenue to see each of the five completed murals in the neighborhood. ArtWorks alums, John Lanzador and Lizzy DuQuette, teamed up to collaboratively design five mini murals that span five separate walls along Warsaw Avenue in the business district of East Price Hill. The designs John and Lizzy created for this project were inspired by the responses they gathered from community engagement sessionsheld earlier in the year that asked East Price Hill residents to “tell their stories” about their families, traditions, and the lives they lead each day in the Price Hill neighborhood. Additionally, four more community engagement sessions, which were named Summer Art Studios, were held this summer in East Price Hill. Summer Art Studio sessions were free and open to the public, and encouraged members of the community to paint and print patterns on parachute cloth, The pieces parachute cloth that were prepared by the community, were then cut by John and Lizzy into the lettering you can see now on the finished murals.
Also taking place on September 12 is the screening of Team Flick’s documentary on the East Price Hill project. Team Flick is our film Apprentice Team. This summer the team followed along with the East Price Hill mural team as the murals went up in the neighborhood. They captured interviews and insight into the mini mural project and the community as a whole. The September 12th dedication will be the premier of the film.
