Generation Vexed:
Editorials and Cartoons by ArtWorks Apprentices

From gay rights to political snafus to Cincinnati race relations, see what's on the minds of Cincinnati's Generation Vexed in this premiere exhibition of the Editorial Ink collection of original work.

During the summer of 2003, a group of teenage apprentice artists worked with lead artist Thom Shaw, and writers Kathy Wilson and Dean Blase, to sharpen their skills in writing and drawing editorials based on current events. Over the course of six weeks as part of the ArtWorks Summer Program, these apprentices studied local, national and international newspapers, held discussions and chose current topics on which to base their editorials. The ED INK project was designed to correspond with the Editorial Eye exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum this past summer. Apprentices utilized this exhibit as a starting point in discussions that lead to the concepts of their final works. In September 2003, CityBeat published selected works from the ED INK project in a cover story.
