The ArtWorks Gallery presents Tune In, Turn On, and Hook Up, the premiere exhibition of paintings by Scott Donaldson. Drawing upon pop-cultural icons expanding all the way from the radio days to contemporary Internet personalities, Donaldson renders his photo-realistic portraits in color fantastic. Focusing great attention on subtle characteristics to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Bill Gates, Doris Day, Fred Astaire, Liz Taylor, Captain Kirk and Peter Tosh, Tune In, Turn On, and Hook Up represents Donaldson’s take on the path of popular culture.

Donaldson grew up in Tracy, Minnesota, a town, according to him, “of 2500 souls on the edge of the short grass prairie nearer Sioux Fall, SD than Minneapolis”.  He earned a BFA in Studio and Theatre Arts from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. Donaldson came to Cincinnati in 1999 to work as Associate Manager of Exhibits at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. In 2007, he was a Project Manager in the ArtWorks Summer Program, working on the Millvale Mural project.
