After a summer of brainstorming, interviewing, filming, and editing, the iFilm project produced six documentaries with a focus on the YMCA or YMCA values that can be used by the YMCA. The documentaries include films about military service, a day-in-the-life look at YMCA staff, and a “YMCA trivia” film.
Working with film equipment, directors and cinematographers has been a wonderful learning experience for Apprentices, many of whom are interested in pursuing film as a career. They’ve also gained priceless experience in the areas of directing and editing their own films. “I want to be a director. I know that’s what I want, and now I get practice, sort of a step ahead,” said sixteen-year-old Alaina Wander. |
