Cincinnati Astronomer Dean Regas to emcee Secret ArtWorks Under the Stars

ArtWorks is proud to announce Dean Regas as the event emcee for Secret ArtWorks Under the Stars on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at Music Hall.

Regas is the Astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory and co-host of Star Gazers, a backyard astronomy program which airs on over 100 PBS stations around the world, and Looking Up!, a podcast from Cincinnati Public Radio. He is the author of three books: Facts From Space!, 100 Things to See in the Night Sky, and 100 Things to See in the Southern Night Sky.

“I love sharing my excitement for astronomy with the community, so I’m delighted to be part of this iconic Cincinnati fundraiser,” Regas said. “ArtWorks is more than just murals. It’s grand vision is to employ creative young people to create monumental works of art that all of us can enjoy, just like the night sky. I encourage everyone to attend Secret ArtWorks Under the Stars to support the ArtWorks youth apprentices.”

Secret ArtWorks features 1,000 original 5”x7” artworks from artists from Greater Cincinnati and beyond. (Become a Secret Artist and attend the event on us!) The secret is the identity of the artist, which is hidden until the work is selected by an attendee. Each attendee will receive a Secret Work of Art.

Since its start in 1996, ArtWorks has employed more than 3,500 youth and 3,000 professional artists who have completed over 12,000 public and private art projects, including 180 permanent murals.
