Creating a Sustainable Fine Art Career

In this two-hour workshop, independent arts career professional and artist Anna Ogier-Bloomer will offer insight into the paths to furthering a studio practice and promoting your fine art career. She will cover the materials essential to gaining opportunities such as exhibitions, residencies, grants, and more, and present best practices on websites and online engagement, portfolio presentation, application materials, and how to develop your own path to success. Participants should feel welcome to ask questions during and after the presentation.

About Anna Ogier-Bloomer

Anna Ogier-Bloomer is a published artist and educator, and a leader in arts career development practices. She has developed dynamic programming to further professional careers of visual artists through trainings, panels and conversations, workshops, one-on-one counseling and more in her roles in career services at the School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design in New York. She has led workshops and presentations in a range of professional practice topics including conducting studio visits, creating a sustainable fine art career, applying to grants and residencies, working with art dealers, applying to academic positions, Fulbright grant development, time management, job and internship search and preparation, and many others. She has worked with industry leaders from Facebook, Apple, Pixar, Disney Animation, Hearst Corporation, ZARA, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros. Music to name just a few.

Her collaborations with arts organizations and curators include CUE Art Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the College Art Association, Project for Empty Space, The Wassaic Project, SiTE:LAB, and more. She has served on the graduate faculty in the School of Visual Arts MFA Fine Arts program and has been an adjunct Associate Professor of Photography at The City University of New York.

Ogier-Bloomer’s photographs have been published widely online including The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, BUST Magazine, Refinery29, Feature Shoot, among others. Residencies include The Wassaic Artist Residency, the Feminist Incubator at Project for Empty Space, and The Bakery Photographic Collective. Her work has been exhibited at venues around the country including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, Wellesley College, AIR Gallery in Brooklyn, and many others. She lives and works in Chicago with her husband and two children, and travels often for her work.
