In an age defined by complexity\, convenience\, and digital dependence\, the exhibition highlights works that strip creation down to its core\, emphasizing tactile immediacy\, intuition\, and instinctive mark-making. \nThe exhibition features work created through both individual and collaborative processes\, progressing from traditional drawing tools to painting\, screen printing\, and digital illustration. DESCRIPTION:ArtWorks is delighted to present the first Gallery Fellow exhibition of the season\, Cerebral Vortex. Led by artist-in-residence Kenton Brett\, Cerebral Vortex presents the culmination of the Gallery Fellows’ creative process through time-lapse and stop-motion animation. The exhibition features a video work created from footage captured during Studio Sessions\, where sets\, props\, and backgrounds were constructed directly in the camera’s eye. \nEdited to bloom\, morph\, and melt\, the video forms an infinite loop that continuously returns to its beginning. Shown during the public exhibition\, the work reflects the collaborative efforts of Gallery Fellows working across camera technology\, lighting\, prop construction\, painting\, and live performance\, offering viewers insight into the layered and evolving nature of the creative process. \n  \nCerebral Vortex will be on display January 30 – March 11 2026 \nGallery Hours are Thursday-Friday 12pm-6pm & Saturday 10am-4pm \n

The mural will serve as a visual tribute to the legacy and future vision of the Cincinnati Open and is envisioned to be a vibrant reflection of the tournament’s 125-year journey\, reflecting the spirit of connection and hospitality that defines the event. \nThis project was completed by a team of 16 Youth Apprentices\, \nMural designer: Alison Seiffer \nLead Teaching Artist: Sophie Shiff \nTeaching Artists: Tevin Brown and Dani Pflum\n\nThe dedication is free and open to the public.\n

SUMMARY:"Phronesis" Sculptural Installation Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtWorks and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County to celebrate the completion of sculptural installation Phronesis\, Wednesday\, October 16 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the downtown main branch (800 Vine St). ArtWorks is proud to have led the call to artists for this public art project. Free and open to the public. \nCreated by internationally acclaimed artist Jen Lewin\, Phronesis is a large-scale light sculpture on the South Plaza of the Main Library. Seven of the sculpture’s light pillars are installed outside the Library’s Vine Street entrance\, and a single interior light pillar is immediately inside the building’s atrium. \nDerived from Ancient Greek\, the word phronesis is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary\, opens a new window as “understanding” and “practical judgement.”  \nWith Phronesis\, Lewin looks both into the past and the future. Inspired by the search of Dr. Stephen Bertman\, a professor of Languages\, Literature\, and Cultures at the University of Windsor in Canada\, Lewin crafted eight large illuminated sculptures\, each representing a guiding principle of ancient Greek wisdom: \n\nHumanism\nThe Pursuit of Excellence\nThe Practice of Moderation\nSelf-Knowledge\nRationalism\nRestless Curiosity\nThe Love of Freedom\nIndividualism\n\nThese principles and their ancient roots remind us of the vast breadth of human knowledge\, curiosity\, and history\, much of which is preserved and shared through the Library. \nImage provided by the Library

SUMMARY:"Chiaroscuro" Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:EVENT POSTPONED: The V2 Gallery Opening for “Chiaroscuro” has been rescheduled to Friday\, October 4\, 5 – 7 p.m. due to the severe weather and high wind conditions last Friday. \nLed by Artists-in-Residence Leo Thiam and Romain Mayambi\, Fellows (ages 16-24) have focused their attention on the artistic concept known as Chiaroscuro\, an Italian terminology that conveys the interplay between light and dark\, to express an emotional response through the medium of images and films. New photo and video works by Fellows will be shared for the first time at the opening. \nAll are welcome to attend. Works are for sale with proceeds going back to the artists. \nAbout ArtWorks’ Gallery Fellowship Program: ArtWorks’ Gallery Fellowship Program\, held at the V² Gallery\, allows teen and young adult artists to study the materials and methods of outstanding Artists to inform the creation of their own unique and individual works of art. Programs culminate in a cohesive group exhibit with all works for sale and proceeds going directly to the participating Artists. This is a free educational program with all art-making supplies provided. \nAccessibility Notice: The gallery’s middle entrance has stairs\, while the far right and left entrances provide ADA accessibility with ramp access and sidewalk entry. The environment is free of loud sounds or moving lights\, and seating is available. Additionally\, a sensory kit is available upon request at the front desk. The gallery is equipped with a first aid kit. Please note that there are no restrooms on site. \nParking: A free community parking lot is located on the corner of Copelen St. and E McMillan across from Fireside Pizza. Addition parking:\n· Paid Parking lot located behind PNC Bank (Directly across from Free community parking lot).\n· There are various side streets with parking near the ArtWorks Office and V2 Gallery. Melrose Ave\, right behind PNC. Chatham Street and Stanton Ave on either side of Green Man Park. \n· Limited street parking along Gilbert Ave and E. McMillan\, including right in front of our building (2460 Gilbert Ave). \nSensory Kit: Designed for individuals with various neurodivergences\, this kit includes:\n· Earplugs and folding noise-canceling headphones (for adults and children) to mitigate overwhelming noise.\n· Sticky notes for covering sensors.\n· A small bottle of hand lotion for soothing.\n· Sensory toys: a fidget cube and Wikki Stix.\n· Alcohol-free hand sanitizing wipes.\n· Communication cards: visual aids for nonverbal communication and speech delay.\n· Small pocket notebook and pen.\n· Large print word puzzle.\n· Sensory mats and a weighted lap pad.\n· Polarized sunglasses. \nGallery Inquiries: For inquiries about the ArtWorks V² Gallery or to schedule a visit outside of regular openings\, contact Karla Batres Gilvin\, Exhibitions and Gallery Fellowship Manager\, at Karla@ArtWorksCincinnati.org.
