DESCRIPTION:Wet Paint is ArtWorks’ event series that offers a look behind the scenes of our in-progress projects—an array of new art planned for our region—centering on the artists who make our city vibrant. \nAttendees will hear from the Apprentices\, Teaching Staff and Studio Artists behind our summer 2024 art projects\, followed by a talk and Q+A with a featured professional artist. \n  \nFeatured Artist: Loren Long\, designer of ArtWorks’ in-progress “Yellow Bus” mural \nLoren Long is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling picture book “Otis” series. He is the #1 New York Times bestselling illustrator of President Barack Obama’s picture book Of Thee I Sing\, Matt de la Pena’s Love\, the re-illustrated edition of The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper\, and Mr. Peabody’s Apples by Madonna. Loren’s new edition of Clement C. Moore’s The Night Before Christmas is a modern\, more inclusive take on the classic. His most recent works are Someone Builds the Dream by Lisa Wheeler and the much anticipated picture book\, Change Sings written by Inaugural Poet Amanda Gorman. The Otis series has been developed as an animated television series\, Get Rolling With Otis\, on Apple TV\, which Loren Executive Produced. DESCRIPTION:Hear from Frank O’Farrell\, Founder of Fourthwall Youth Studios\, an award-winning film production and digital media program for the youth of Cincinnati. ArtWorks Apprentices have partnered with Fourthwall to create a captivating film series this summer. This collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about the challenges of mental health and foster a deeper understanding of diverse learning abilities. When the film is completed\, it will be distributed to schools\, with the goal of reducing stigma and igniting positive action. Get ready to be moved and inspired by these impactful stories. \nIn addition to this film project\, attendees will also hear from ArtWorks Apprentices about other summer projects including  murals taking shape inside Kroger’s downtown headquarters\, the Hamilton County Garage at Findlay Market\, and Rookwood Commons. \nThis is a FREE event; all are welcome. \nRSVP HERE \nAbout Fourthwall Youth Studios\nFrank O’Farrell created Fourthwall Youth Studios to introduce creative practices and the art of filmmaking to Cincinnati youth who struggle academically. With a focus on developing personal character and 21st-century skills\, its mission is to help youth find their voice and express their individuality through digital and performance arts\, to change the trajectory of their own lives\, those around them\, and their community.  Since 2015\, over 700 young filmmakers have participated in Fourthwall’s various programs\, producing almost 100 films and garnering over 60 national\, regional and local awards. Many participating students have attended or graduated from some of the country’s best film schools and several have opened their own production companies. In addition to Fourthwall\, Frank also teaches at the University of Cincinnati’s Digital Media Collaborative. \nAbout Wet Paint\nWet Paint by ArtWorks is a quarterly event series that offers a look behind the scenes of the organization’s upcoming projects\, centering on the artists who make our city vibrant. Since 1996\, ArtWorks has employed over 7\,000 youth and creative professionals\, annually investing around $1.5 million in wages for artists.
