Pedal Wagon’s Cincinnati Mural Tour is the first of its kind for the company. Rather than pedaling to bars and restaurants, riders will head to Cincinnati’s urban masterpieces throughout Downtown, The Banks, Findlay, and Over-the-Rhine, where many Instagrammable moments will await them.
In addition to the usual Pedal Wagon ‘Captain’ who steers and navigates, a trained tour guide will also be aboard each wagon. The tour guide will tell riders all about the history, artists, and inspiration behind Cincinnati’s favorite murals, like Ice Cream Daydream, Ezzard Charles: The Cincinnati Cobra, & Swing Around Rosie.
This unique tour is the perfect way to spend a creative day in Cincinnati for people of all ages. 10% of all proceeds will go to ArtWorks to support their continued community impact efforts.
“We are always looking for new ways to be innovative with our mural tours. When Pedal Wagon approached us to partner, we couldn’t say no,” says Colleen Houston, ArtWorks Chief Programming Officer. “These tours will help us reach a new audience to learn about our murals and our mission. Most people recognize them, but have no idea the story and the passion behind the projects.”
While planning for this new tour, Pedal Wagon invited local Yelp Elites aboard a free cruise to do a test drive. They were able to be the first to experience the new tour and Pedal Wagon took their comments, suggestions, and feedback into careful consideration when finalizing the details for the tour.
Reflecting on the Pedal Wagon + Yelp event, Yelp Elite, Cindy W. says, “This kind of event is right up my alley — getting some exercise in, enjoying adventuring through town, and learning more about the Queen City. I’m a sucker for learning (after talking to others at the event, they were too!) and this event was full of information!”
2018 has been a successful year for Pedal Wagon with about 16,000 rides under their belt so far since January. The company commissioned Blink Program Manager and local artist who pitched the idea for the giant L.E.D.-enhanced Ferris Wheel at the Banks, Joshua Stout, to paint a mural on their garage. Pedal Wagon also launched a new website and expanded into Covington, Kentucky. Pedal Wagon Covington marks the fourth city under the Pedal Wagon brand, which also includes Pedal Wagon Columbus and Pedal Wagon Dayton.
“We’re ecstatic about our partnership with ArtWorks and look forward to helping to spread the vast talent, history, culture, and inspiration that their murals bring to Cincinnati through our tours,” says Stuart Naeny of Pedal Wagon. “This has truly been a transitional year for us in that we’ve been able to execute our passion projects that we’ve been dreaming about for years like this one. ArtWorks has been an incredible partner from day one and we are thrilled to be able to support their future projects.”
Pedal Wagon also recently re-introduced their Bengals Pregame cruise, on which Bengals will head to Cincinnati’s best sports bars before pedaling to Paul Brown Stadium for the game. The company now has ten different cruise and tour offerings: Bike, Bevies, & Brunch, Progressive Dinner, Redlegs Rally, Explore Downtown, Explore Over-the-Rhine, Tavern Cruise, Pedal-Power Lunch, Cincinnati Mural Tour, Bengals Pregame, and Polar Bear Express.
