Spring 2022 Youth Artist Exhibition Program: Carving Out Your Own Path

John Lanzador, Carving Out Your Own Path Teaching Artist

The Youth Artist Exhibition Program through the ArtWorks Gallery presents collaborations with outstanding artists leading youth in gallery apprenticeship studios to create new works of art, guided by the artist. Youth will learn the materials and methods of the artist, making their own unique and individual works of art. A group exhibit will be the outcome of each studio with all works for sale and proceeds going directly to youth artists. Local curators and museum partners will enhance the learning with a foundational gallery exhibition curriculum for all emerging artists. Youth will represent their art through artist statements, gallery talks, opening events, and community events. Artists will host community workshops to engage with residents through art making activities during the run of each exhibit.

Spring 2022 Youth Artist Exhibition Program: Carving Out Your Own Path

The Carving Out Your Own Path program will start with a conversation of what it takes to find your artistic voice, and what it takes to live an artistic life. Youth Artists will look at their influences, the art they love, and everything else that makes us who we are. Teaching Artist, John Lanzador, will guide Youth Artists to explore themselves in order to create the art they want to make.
Lanzador’s work has been influenced by folk art, tattoo flash, pop art and contemporary issues. As your Teaching Artist, Lanzador will share the techniques that he has been playing with to have Youth Artists create their own wood based artwork. Artists will all create a carved and painted wooden artwork that will show the influences and current situation of their lives.
