Monumental Conversations

FreeArtWorks’ latest initiative, New Monuments, is looking for input from the community Saturday, February 25, 2023,
11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ArtWorks V2 Gallery, 929 E McMillan.
Monumental Conversations is a social gathering of Cincinnati residents intended to promote personal storytelling and the creation of visual representation. Following an introduction on what the New Monuments Initiative is and who the Civic Studio Artists are, the event guests are invited to freely move between the two craft sections and a graffiti wall. The purpose of this Monumental Conversation is to gather information on what the community feels is needed to develop new monuments in the future.
The event is set up as an open house where guests can sign up for a 15-minute portrait and interview session. They will be able to choose between three different artists, based on samples of their styles, and will receive a number that will be called when it’s their turn. During the portrait sessions, guests will be interviewed about their personal life and community, which will be recorded. Each guest will be able to have both the pieces they create, and their portrait photographed which is available to take home.
