Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I volunteer to help paint a mural?
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer volunteers the opportunity to paint a mural, as these are all paid positions for our youth apprentices and teaching staff. If you are an artist interested in working with us, sign up for our Artist Opportunities newsletter to learn about how you can get involved with a project.

2. Can I bring a group?
Absolutely! We would be happy to have your corporate, school, family, or other interested group join us for a volunteer day. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule your group outing.

3. What should I wear?
For most volunteer activities, you will be provided with an ArtWorks volunteer t-shirt. Please wear this, comfortable pants or shorts, walking shoes, and protection for the weather, if required to work outdoors.  Please keep clothes professional; no rips or tears, and clothes should not be too tight or revealing.  Clothing should not advertise any other business, organization or sporting team.

4. Can children under 18 volunteer?
We are happy to have anyone over the age of 14 volunteer with ArtWorks. The only exception is Secret ArtWorks, for which you must be at least 18 years old.

5. Is transportation provided?
Transportation to and from ArtWorks’ volunteer opportunities is the responsibility of the volunteer.

6. Can I count my volunteer hours toward my school’s community service requirement?
Of course! Once you have completed your volunteer shift, the Volunteer Coordinator is happy to sign off on your hours and/or provide proof of completion.

7. Why should I volunteer?
As an ArtWorks volunteer, you will gain a network of friends and creatives, experience firsthand the ArtWorks creative process, gain access to ArtWorks events, and so much more. Most importantly, you will play an active role in our mission of transforming people and places through investments in creativity.
