2020 looked a lot different for everyone, including ArtWorks. We completed a summer season like no other. We launched our season of New Voices, highlighting our work to collaborate with emerging artists and community members to bring their artistic vision to life, presenting new perspectives for public art throughout our region. ArtWorks was able to focus on creating opportunity for diverse, young and underrepresented artists in our region. We know our city is at its best when everyone gets a chance. Watch this video.

A message from Cincinnati’s favorite funkadelic couple Bootsy Collins and Peppermint Patti that started our Secret ArtWorks House Party! Watch this video.

Supported by FotoFocus, Heart and Soul is a series of wheat-pasted mini-murals featuring Black womxn from Cincinnati amplifying their stories, voices, and faces. Photographer Nikita Gross led a team of eight Youth Apprentices to create this inspiring photo installation. These young creatives added their own creative touches, such as paint, collage, and digital design to enhance Gross’ portraits. The designs were influenced by each womxn’s story, in addition to their own artistic aesthetic and voice. Watch this video.

ArtWorks CEO & Artistic Director Colleen Houston interviews world renowned and Secret ArtWorks Artist Cedric Michael Cox. Cedric is best known for his paintings and drawings which fall between surrealism and representational abstraction. Watch this video.

This fall, ArtWorks had the opportunity to partner with H&R Block, Next Door and others to paint a mural in front of Frederick Douglass Elementary School. ArtWorks then brought in a familiar face, local artist and frequent Summer Teaching Artist Brandon Hawkins of Soul Palette to design the mural and lead the project. Now here is your chance to watch this mural come to life. Watch this video.

Our friends Catherine Manabat and Julia Petiprin, owners of Homemakers Bar in Over-the-Rhine, teamed up with ArtWorks SuperStar Board Member Pam Kravetz to create a cocktail for Secret ArtWorks House Party! Watch this video.
