Managing Director Workforce Development

JOB DESCRIPTION:  ArtWorks is seeking a Managing Director of Workforce Development to lead the strategy and execution of innovative initiatives and programs that advance our mission to transform people and places through investments in creativity. This is an exciting opportunity to champion and drive ArtWorks’ programming impact. This position will guide a growing department to plan and implement programs, trainings and investments for youth and creative professionals in the arts in Greater Cincinnati. This leader will help drive innovation through program enhancements and diversify ArtWorks enterprises and trainings to advance ArtWorks’ reputation. This role is part of ArtWorks’ leadership team advising Board of Directors, Executive Leaders, and Staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership
  • Lead strategic planning efforts for ArtWorks Workforce Development
  • Key member of ArtWorks’ Programming Committee
  • Manage Workforce Development Team, a growing department of two full time Managers and additional support staff as necessary; Recruit, hire and manage support staff to support department, as needed
  • Develop and manage department annual plan and budget; Report on annual measures
  • Manage relationships with strategic partners
Workforce Development
  • Ensure department meets annual outreach, recruitment and impact goals for creative individuals served by ArtWorks (Youth Apprentices, Teaching Staff, Professional Artists, and Creative Entrepreneurs) for all program initiatives
  • Develop and implement Alumni engagement strategies
  • Research and develop initiatives to drive innovation; recommend and implement program enhancements that diversify ArtWorks enterprises and trainings that invest in, develop and propel regional talent
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to administer comprehensive communication, marketing and design to increase awareness for artist / alumni successes, support recruitment needs and drive attendance to events; Drive ‘People First/Artist First’ Marketing Strategies and Storytelling
  • Identify and develop Professional Development opportunities, workshops and trainings for youth to professionals
  • Collaborate with Development to support grant-writing and other development efforts
  • Lead development of surveys for talent groups served; Recommend key insights for improvements
  • Foster collaboration across ArtWorks programming areas and support other ArtWorks programming initiatives and events as needed.
  • Build collaborative relationships within the entrepreneurial eco-system in the region, positioning ArtWorks as a leader in workforce development in the arts; present at panels

  • Excellent project and staff management capabilities
  • Passion about developing the creative talent in the region
  • High level of connection with the Cincinnati artists, art educators and creative start-up community
  • Ease in meeting and developing relationships with new people from diverse backgrounds
  • Extremely organized, efficient, detail-oriented and successful at meeting deadlines
  • Strong ethics; must manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple budgets, projects and deadlines at the same time
  • Confidence and experience in public speaking

Credentials and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business or other related degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a professional in an agency, nonprofit or corporate setting
  • Nonprofit / arts experience preferred but not required

Design Intern

Job Description: ArtWorks is seeking a Design Intern to assist the Design Manager in the creation of materials for upcoming events and programming. Join a dynamic team in a fun and fast paced environment and help us advance our mission to transform people and places through investments in creativity.

Key responsibilities of the Design Intern include:

  • Work under the direction of the Design Manger
  • Implement a consistent visual identity for upcoming events
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new collateral
  • Participate in planning and brainstorming meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and/or characteristics:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experience working in print design and preparing files for printing
  • Interest in the arts, non-profits and graphic design
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Great organizational skills

Workforce Development Intern

Job Description: ArtWorks is seeking a Workforce Development Intern to assist the Workforce Development Department in the recruitment and hiring efforts for 2018. Join a dynamic team in a fun and fast paced environment and help us advance our mission to transform people and places through investments in creativity.

Key responsibilities of the Workforce Development Intern include:

  • Work under the direction of the Director of Workforce Development
  • Assisting with data entry for workforce databases
  • Assist collecting mailing address, stuff collateral and mailing, and distributing hire collateral
  • Prepare presentations for in person recruitment opportunities Assisting in Artists and Apprentice recruitment and interview process
  • Assisting + monitor with recruitment events
  • Assist with planning and development of orientation and enrichment schedules and materials
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and/or characteristics:

  • Able to work collaboratively with and in support of programming staff and other ArtWorks team-members;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel and Access
  • Experience working in an office
  • Interest in the arts, non-profits and graphic design
  • Passion for the arts and education;
  • A valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation required
  • Must have a vehicle for transporting supplies to project sites
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Great organizational skills
  • Discretion
  • Some weekend hours required
